Together in Contemplation : Compassionate Awareness for Easing Suffering and Fostering Growth
A Collaborative, Existential, and Values-Based Approach to Therapy

Matthew Bethell, M.A., LMFT
Matthew Bethell is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who provides thoughtful and personalized therapy for individuals, couples, and families.
Drawing from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, existential psychology, and interpersonal neurobiology, his work brings together practical tools, relational understanding, and a deep respect for how people make meaning of their experiences.

Individual Therapy
Individual therapy offers a private and supportive space to work toward meaningful change. Sessions focus on your personal goals, whether it's managing stress or anxiety, or navigating life changes.
Couples Therapy
Couples therapy offers a structured and supportive environment where can explore their feelings and experiences. It encourages open and fosters a deeper understanding of each other's perspectives. Through guided discussions, couples can work through conflicts and reconnect on an emotional level, ultimately strengthening their bond.
Family Therapy
Family therapy focuses on strengthening relationships and fostering understanding among family members. Because family therapy often involves multiple participants, longer sessions (90 minutes) may be recommended when more than two people are present, allowing enough time for meaning dialogue, reflection, and collaborative healing.

"I think of wellbeing as more than the absence or management of distress—it is both a state and a living practice, deeply rooted in congruence and connection. Therapy holds a paradox: we come wanting to reduce our suffering, yet real change manifests from showing up authentically and turning toward difficult emotions. This can allow us to lessen the need to control how others respond, while focusing on living more honestly. I’d be honored to walk with you in that process
